I am estimating that you will need about 20 skeins of yarn with 220 meters each? skein. It is always best to purchase extra yarn.
You can crochet a chain? to the width that you would like to make your afghan and then work the pattern.
At some point, maybe on a previous row, you must? have skipped some stitches. You will crochet in the 3 stitches that you skipped.
